9 How can divine predestination and free will exist in the same universe?

These viewpoints seem so opposing how can they possible coexist?

  1. lightperson says:

You are right. It would almost take a God to figure it out.

  2. Mainworry says:

In the world that then was some overcame Satan.

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, these overcomers God can use and all others have freewill.

In the world that then was II Pet.3:6 – Satan rebelled and 1/3 followed him committing treason against the kingdom of God Rev.12:3-4. Satan the son of perdition is the only soul judged to perish. For the rest of His children God had a plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. All souls would be born innocent through the womb. The heavens and the earth which are now II Pet.3:7 – Jesus Christ is the rightful heir and king. Jesus Christ came and paid the price for all that accept His kingdom. This price was death to abolish the right of Satan to accuse many souls to perish the second death Heb.2:14.

Hell is separation from God by a gulf of time. In hell the torture is seeing across this gulf of time and knowing you did not overcome Satan’s right to accuse you. The flame is shame and the thirst is for the Spirit of God visibly flowing across the gulf. Hell becomes nonexistent at the end of the Millennium Rev.20:14. The second death is of the soul, to perish, to be blotted out or erased out of the book of life – a perpetual sleep of nonexistence or if you like eternal damnation.

At the end of the Millennium after the great white throne judgment, when all enemies of Jesus Christ are under foot or ashes, then the Son will be subject to the Father that God may be all in all I Cor.15:24-28. Then a new heaven and new earth – new meaning rejuvenated. This will be eternal glory, our God, our heavenly Father coming full circle eternal glory to eternal glory.

  3. AntiApollyon says:

Depends on your perspective. If you are eternal and all-knowing, then you already know what choices will be made. If you are not eternal an all-knowing, you are free to make whatever choice you wish.

Free-will is making a choice without influence. Knowing what the outcome will be does not violate free choice.

  4. Lha Bho says:

Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust.

  5. Anthony says:

Part of the answer is that God can place you in a situation where he can foresee that you will behave in a certain way without thereby violating your freewill.

Partly, it needs to be remembered that freewill is in any case a very puzzling concept, even when looked at from a purely philosophical point of view and without reference to theology.

  6. Lion of the tribe says:

those who come to Christ of their own free will are predestined in Christ

  7. goaheadnfireme says:

I’ve thought the same exact thing. >>>>

  8. Angels of the Apocalypse says:

    "predestination" is a misunderstanding.

God has the book of life with Him before creation. Jesus and the Father talk about erasing names from the book of life upon judgement day based on one’s conduct. The imagery gets confusing because man does not comprhend the power of our Omni-Present to all physical time, God. God writes the spritual book of life at Judgement Day at the end of time. The spiritual book of life is omni-present with God to the whole of physical time which includes creation.

God can hold the entire cosmos, from infinite past to infinite future physical time, in the palm of His Hand as if it were a six inch piece of yarn. God can see the whole of physical time and all your actions. Omni-Present to all physical time God intervenes in physical time to change the course of free willed man. God’s Omni-Presence to the whole of physical time, does not eliminate the fact that God gave man free will to choose between love and hate for God during man’s physical time on earth.

God created the universe from His focus point of love for God capable man. Loving God through free willed obedience on earth is what man’s life and creation are all about. This is what the bible teaches over and over. God, with all His emence Power, certianly is powerful enough to make human free will, which is nessessary in the production of love for God, a reality.

    NAB REV 3:5
"The victor will thus be dressed in white, and I will never erase his name from the book of life but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and of his angels.

God’s eternal book of those who live eternally. LUK 10:20 REV 13:8 REV 17:8 REV 20:12 REV 20:15 REV 21:27

    EXO 32
The LORD answered, "Him only who has sinned against me will I strike out of my book. Now, go and lead the people whither I have told you. My angel will go before you. When it is time for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin." Thus the LORD smote the people for having had Aaron make the calf for them.

  9. lordaviii says:

They can’t. There is no divine predestination, only free will. God does have a plan for each individual, but it is up to that person to follow that plan, or go their own way. Even though we may stray from His path, there is always a way back.
